Our Story
Born and raised in central New York, we were college sweethearts.
Megan was raised on a dairy farm, Josh was raised in the suburbs of a large city, and for the first nine years of our lives together we lived a suburban life.
In 2013, work brought us to Virginia. The "standard American lifestyle" had caused chronic health issues for both of us and several of our children. Out of necessity and in search of answers, we began learning to cook everything from scratch, including our bread. In 2015, we bought a house with exactly 1 acre in the suburbs of the state capitol and decided to grow a garden. Each year that garden got bigger, and in 2017 we added our first chickens.
By 2023 we had added a few more kids and run out room in our house. We were dedicated to this lifestyle of growing as much of our own food as we possibly could, so we started looking for more land. That's what led us to a run-down horse farm at the top of a hill in rural Virginia. We knew we could grow so much more food on this farm so we bought it as-is and set to work.
There were so many "God winks" through the whole process of finding our farm. It was undeniable in so many ways that God alone worked it all out. That's when Jireh Hill Homestead was born.
The farm has grown and changed each year as we have challenged ourselves to grow more, try new things, add new animals, and more. We're so excited to see what's next in our journey.
Thanks for joining us along the way.
